The OB module is not a calculation module in its own right but a selection and entry-point tool: via the "Start selection" function, it guides the user to the appropriate calculation modules of the library. Instead of evaluating formulas, it serves navigation purposes – for example, to open the correct verification or design module starting from a given engineering task.

Such dispatcher modules are useful in extensive calculation libraries for pressure equipment engineering, because many tasks (e.g. wall thickness, flange or nozzle verifications) are spread across several specialised individual modules. Entering via the selection ensures that geometry, load type and design code lead to the right module.

Calculation workflow

  1. Start the selection: The user starts the selection and is guided through the available calculation topics.
  2. Narrow down the task: Based on the component, loading and design code, the appropriate individual module is identified.
  3. Open the target module: The selected calculation module is opened with the actual input and output screen; the engineering calculation itself takes place there.
